About Utopia Studio

Utopia Studio is an AI-native venture studio partnered with Qatar Development Bank. We co-build companies with domain experts across six thesis-led pods: Infrastructure Intelligence, Decarbonisation, Capital Infrastructure, National Resilience, Commerce Stack, and Wild Cards.

Our thesis is simple. The most valuable companies of the next decade will not be built by generalist founders chasing applications of AI. They will be built by operators who have lived inside mission-critical systems, paired with a studio that compresses the path from problem to pilot to platform. We provide the product, engineering, design, capital, and anchor access. You bring the problem and the domain credibility.

About the role

We are sourcing Co-Build Fellows into our Infrastructure Intelligence pod. The pod builds companies at the intersection of physical infrastructure and AI. Specifically, the proprietary operational data that sits inside energy assets, industrial maintenance systems, and hyperscale data centre operations.

This is not a job. It is a fellowship engineered to make you a founder. At the end of a successful co-build you spin out with founder-level equity, seed capital, and a studio behind you.

The Infrastructure Intelligence thesis

Physical infrastructure generates enormous proprietary operational data. Most of it sits in SCADA exports, CMMS tickets, DCIM platforms, permit systems, vendor portals, and spreadsheets. The intelligence layer has not been built because it requires domain credibility to earn data access, and most AI-native builders do not have it.

We are looking for founders in three active sub-themes:

• Energy. Asset performance management, turnaround planning, emissions intelligence, grid flexibility, upstream and downstream operations optimisation.
• Industrial maintenance. Predictive reliability, spare parts economics, shutdown planning, reliability-as-a-service, CMMS-native intelligence.
• Data centres. Capacity and power intelligence, cooling optimisation, site selection, infrastructure risk modelling, hyperscale and colocation operations.

Working arrangement

Remote-first. You work from wherever you are most productive and closest to your domain network. The Doha studio is the anchor hub, and we bring the cohort together for structured sprints. Expect one week in Doha during the build phase, funded by the studio.

If the company scales globally, you build from wherever the market is.

Who you are

• 10+ years operating inside one of: upstream or downstream energy, industrial reliability and maintenance, or hyperscale or colocation data centre operations.
• You have owned a P&L, run a turnaround, engineered an uptime system, or managed a mission-critical asset base at scale.
• You have a specific thesis about where value leaks. You know the spreadsheet. You know the workaround. You know which vendor is underdelivering and why.
• You are comfortable with messy real-world data, enterprise and government sales cycles, and the operational complexity of regulated industries.
• You are disciplined enough to operate remotely at founder intensity, and willing to travel to Doha and customer sites on a regular cadence.
• You want to build the company that fixes it. Not advise on it. Not write a report about it. Build it.
