KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coordinate with T&D team and witness welder and procedure qualifications in compliance with approved WPS and established procedures.
  • Verify welder's identity and that they are scheduled for the correct qualification test.
  • Ensure joint design, dimensions, and test coupons are prepared according to code (ASME, AWS, ISO, etc.).
  • Document current, voltage, travel speed, preheat, and inter-pass temperatures. Report deviations or issues immediately for corrective action.
  • Check weld appearance for defects (cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion).
  • Arrange destructive tests (bend, tensile, impact) or NDT (RT, UT, MT, PT) as required by code.
  • Assist in compiling the PQR with all essential variables, test results, and observations. Provide inspection data to help the welding engineer finalize or revise WPS.
  • Ensure welder qualification certificates and PQRs are properly filed and traceable to test coupons.

Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent.

Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)


Valid professional qualification in the following:

  • Welding Inspection (CSWIP 3.2/AWS-SCWI or equivalent schemes).
  • ISO 9001:2015 auditor or lead auditor certification

Experience


  • Minimum of 6 - 9 years experience, relating to Welder qualification/Procedure qualification of marine engineering industries (Jacket structure, ship & rig - buildings
