Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Coding Instructor to join our team at Coding Strings. As a Coding Instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging and hands-on coding and robotics education to children between the ages of 5 and 12. You will be responsible for teaching programming concepts, guiding students through projects, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver age appropriate coding and robotics lessons for kids aged 5 to 12 using platforms such as Scratch, ScratchJr, Lego Education, and more.
- Create and adapt lesson plans that cater to varying skill levels and learning styles, ensuring an enriching experience for all students.
- Teach fundamental programming concepts and encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in students.
- Assist students in hands-on projects, guiding them in building interactive games, animations, and simple robots.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every student feels valued and confident in their abilities.
- Provide individualised guidance and feedback to students to help them progress in their coding and robotics journey.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to continually enhance the curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain a safe and organised learning environment, ensuring that all equipment and materials are properly used and stored.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of programming concepts and experience in coding using platforms like Scratch and ScratchJr.
- Familiarity with robotics education and tools, preferably Lego Education or similar kits.
- Prior experience teaching or mentoring children, with the ability to adapt content for various age groups and skill levels.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire young learners.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with kids to foster their creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to curriculum development.
- Prior experience in educational or STEM-focused organisations is a plus.
