Job Purpose
The Insurance Officer is responsible for managing the organization's insurance portfolio, ensuring adequate coverage for employees, assets, operations and liabilities. This role focuses on risk assessment, policy administration, tender management, claims management and coordination with insurers and brokers, with strong exposure to large fleets, waste management operations and high-risk industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Insurance Portfolio Management: Managing a diverse portfolio covering employee, asset, fleet, and environmental insurance.
- Employee Health Insurance Administration: Overseeing medical enrolments, compliance, and employeeinsurer coordination.
- Fleet & Asset Insurance Management: Administering fleet and asset coverage, renewals, and regulatory compliance.
- Operational Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Assessing operational risks and optimizing insurance coverage.
- Claims Management & Loss Control: Handling end-to-end claims and reducing risk exposure through trend analysis.
- Policy Review & Renewal Strategy: Leading renewals, negotiations, and coverage benchmarking.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining accurate insurance documentation.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaising with teams and insurers to ensure insurance compliance and awareness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business administration, Risk Management or related field
- Professional insurance qualifications (e.g., ACII, CII, CPCU) preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in insurance or risk management
Experience
- Experience working with insurers and brokers in high-risk industries.
- Familiarity with regulatory insurance requirements in industrial or municipal environments
- Exposure to environmental liability and landfill-related risks
- Proven experience with large fleet insurance, Waste management, Facilities management
- Experience with Environmental, landfill and public liability risks
