Job Description

We are looking for you as early as possible as Integration and Data Engineer for our Rail Operation Egypt for the primary location Cairo, Egypt.

The role:

Reporting to the Manager IT Projects and Applications, the Integration and Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines, ETL processes, and system integrations that enable the high-speed railway organization to move, transform, and store data reliably across its application landscape. This is a hands-on engineering role at the core of how the organization turns raw operational data into trusted, accessible information for reporting and business intelligence. You are successful when data flows reliably between systems, pipelines are well built and maintainable, and the organization can count on clean and timely data to support its decisions. You also contribute to shaping the integration standards and patterns that guide how systems connect across the broader IT environment.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL and data pipeline solutions that move and transform data reliably across the organization's application and data landscape.
  • Develop and maintain system integrations between enterprise applications, ensuring data flows are accurate, timely, and aligned to defined integration patterns.
  • Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of integration standards and patterns, bringing practical engineering insight to architecture-level decisions.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across pipelines, implementing validation, monitoring, and error handling that catches and resolves issues before they affect downstream consumers.
  • Build and maintain data storage solutions and data models that support business intelligence and reporting needs, ensuring data is structured for reliable and efficient consumption.
  • Monitor pipeline and integration health proactively, resolving failures quickly and implementing lasting fixes that improve reliability over time.
  • Document data flows, pipeline architectures, and integration designs clearly, ensuring solutions are understandable and maintainable by others.
  • Support the onboarding of new data sources and application integrations, working from business requirements to deliver solutions that are fit for purpose and built to standard.
  • Participate in change management processes, ensuring pipeline and integration changes are reviewed, tested, and safely deployed.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and application teams to understand data needs, translating requirements into practical engineering solutions that deliver measurable value.

Your profile/ qualifications:

  • Formal education in IT, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field is welcome but what matters most is demonstrated hands-on experience building data pipelines and integrations.
  • 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or systems integration in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ETL tooling and data pipeline development, including transformation logic, scheduling, and error handling.
  • Practical experience building system integrations using APIs, event-driven patterns, or iPaaS platforms.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data quality principles, and structuring data for BI and reporting consumption.
  • Comfortable contributing to integration standards and patterns, with the technical depth to engage meaningfully in architecture-level discussions.
  • A developer mindset, writing clean, well-documented, and maintainable code and configurations that others can build on.
  • Familiar with cloud data services, particularly in Azure, and comfortable working across hybrid environments.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus, particularly Microsoft DP-203, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent data engineering credentials.
  • Arabic required; strong professional English essential.

This role is for someone who finds satisfaction in making data move reliably and cleanly, cares about the quality of what they build, and wants to be at the center of how a major national infrastructure project turns operational data into business insight.
