Role Summary:
We're looking for a commercially driven Interior Designer to work the Modora showroom floor, selling to walk-in clients rather than delivering studio design services. The role carries a monthly sales target and commission, and covers everything from consultation and space planning through to closing whole-room and villa projects from our furniture range. Design skill is what makes the candidate better at selling; it isn't the job by itself
Responsibilities
- Meet and exceed a monthly sales target and commission plan.
- Convert single-item enquiries into whole-room and villa projects.
- Consult with walk-in clients, space-plan and build design schemes from the Modora range. Manage made-to-order and custom work end-to-end: client brief, spec sheet, order, and managing the client through factory lead times.
- Work inside the designer-sales handoff model: origination credit stays with whoever brings the client; project-scope clients go designer-led, earning from a separate project-value pool so nobody competes with the salespeople for the same dirham.
- Build design capability in kitchens, wardrobes and cabinetry as these stand up as a core category over the coming months.
Functional/Technical Competencies
- Space planning and scheme-building for furniture showroom clients.
- Strong knowledge of furniture styles, materials and finishes.
- Comfortable qualifying a walk-in, upselling a scheme, and asking for the order.
- Practical, not academic, design capability: able to space-plan a room and spec it from a floor range, not just render concepts. SketchUp, AutoCAD or 3D visualisation skills are a plus, not a requirement.
Qualifications
- Showroom or retail floor experience selling to walk-in clients.
- Furniture industry background is essential
- Professional English
- Has carried a sales target and earned commission in a previous role.
