Role Purpose:
The role holder is responsible for conducting and participating in the comprehensive evaluation of internal controls, asset quality and operational efficiency with the aim to ensure execution of an independent, cost effective and efficient internal audit service to specific lines/businesses of the bank's operations and providing a fair and objective assessment of control and risk levels in HSBC Saudi Arabia (HSBC SA). The role holder is also responsible for providing guidance to Senior Management in respect of operational matters and realizing qualitative improvements in banking operations, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Impact on the Business
- Lead businesses audits including Markets and Securities Services (MSS), Investment Banking and other Advisory businesses and other control functions and regulatory focussed audits.
- Own and manage full life cycle of the audit process: team preparation, logistics, planning, fieldwork, testing, documentation, issue writing, report delivery, post-report issue validation, and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
- A professional with experience working in a dynamic and complex environment, with achievements in a relevant business or function, such as an audit function, finance, risk management, compliance, or business management;
- An analytical thinker who is confident in approaching areas outside of their expertise, getting to the heart of the key features and aspects promptly. Also, person should be able to handle multiple tasks with assigning appropriate priorities;
- A good communicator, verbally and in writing, and able to present and influence, even when delivering difficult messages to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the wider development of Internal Audit, through collaborating with other audit teams (in the region and globally), considering how audit can use data analytics, agile techniques and other innovations.
- Maintain and enhance stakeholder and keeping in touch with business, regulatory and industry developments.
- Ensure that audit assignments are completed in a timely and efficient manner with due respect to the standards established by the Internal Audit, industry best practices and the relevant risk and regulatory environment.
- Conduct audits, allocate resources, and ensure comprehensive discharge of audit team activities with the aim to provide comprehensive procedure and system reviews as and when needed as per audit plan.
- Ensure effectiveness of internal control environments, both physical and procedural, and compliance with HSBC procedures and systems, advises business heads of deviation/failures on compliance and risk issues identified during audit work.
- Identify and evaluate risks arising from the bank's operational/business activities, prepares audit reports with the observations, agrees with business heads on the same and presents outcome to Senior Manager Internal Audit.
- Maintains contact with external auditors to obtain an overview of the current business climate.

- Collaborate with the Department/Business Heads on all Internal Audit related activities.
- Understand the roles and interests of the various business stakeholders as a basis for engaging them at the right level, on the right issues and in the appropriate context.
- Engage stakeholders to obtain a deeper understanding of their business, its requirements and the implications for audit.
- Build trust and credibility with stakeholders in order to objectively engage them and where appropriate challenge their views.
- Demonstrate analytical thinking, sound judgement, critical analysis, attention to detail and provide value-added advice.
- Present audit reports to management/stakeholders, evaluate the adequacy of their action plans and monitor its implementation.
- Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
- Share observations and results of the internal Audits with the External Auditors.

Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting/Finance Chartered Accountancy or equivalent is required
- Master's degree in business administration/accounting/Finance Chartered Accountancy or equivalent is preferred
- Professional certification in Accounting/Audit from internationally recognised bodies such as CFA/CPA/ACA/CIA is preferred
- 4 - 6 years of relevant experience
- Experience in the banking sector within the region with a strong focus on Finance and Audit Standards is preferred
