Functional Activities
This role plays a strategic role in shaping how leadership communicates with employees and how employees connect to the organization's purpose, values, and direction.
Internal Communications Strategy & Leadership Engagement:
- Develop and own the organisation's internal communications strategy, aligned to corporate purpose statement, vision, values, leadership priorities, and business objectives, ensuring consistency across all internal channels and touchpoints.
- Establish and oversee a robust internal communications framework, defining governance, messaging hierarchies, cadence, and best-practice standards for internal announcements, leadership messaging, and employee updates.
- Design and implement leadership engagement programmes, including CEO townhalls, leadership briefings, cascade communications, and two-way engagement formats that strengthen connection between leadership and the wider organisation.
- Lead the rollout and activation of organisational values and culture, translating values into clear internal narratives, campaigns, and moments that reinforce behaviours, purpose, and belonging across all employee segments.
- Oversee change and transformation communications, supporting organisational growth, restructuring, or strategic shifts through clear messaging, stakeholder mapping, and proactive employee engagement planning.
- Develop measurement frameworks for internal communications effectiveness, setting KPIs across reach, engagement, sentiment, and trust, and using insights to continuously refine strategy and execution.
- Champion employee voice and feedback loops, ensuring insights from surveys, pulse checks, and engagement initiatives that inform leadership.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and other relevant topics to inform internal communication strategies.
Intranet Strategy & Internal Channels Management
- Lead the ideation, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization's intranet platform.
- Oversee governance of intranet content, ensuring relevance, timeliness, and clarity.
- Manage and optimize distribution of employee announcements, circulars, and notices through Microsoft Teams channels, Internal email platforms, Digital noticeboards, and other internal communication systems
- Explore and recommend new technologies, tools, and engagement platforms that enhance internal connectivity and information flow.
Newsletters and Internal Circulars
- Oversee ideation, editorial planning, development and production of monthly internal newsletter.
- Develop structured internal emailers to communicate key announcements, milestones, and achievements including a framework for a systematic operation.
- Explore new technologies, systems and apps that can support the work of the growing team and broader organization in regards to keeping employees updated and engaged.
Employee Engagement
- Oversee the department's internal retreats, awards, announcements and visits.
- Prepare celebratory wishes and messages for key calendar days e.g. National Day, Emirati Women's Day, Tech Week etc.
- Collaborate with marketing teams on ideation of gifts and engagement concepts for significant milestones.
- Oversee pulse surveys, quarterly engagement surveys and annual employee survey, feeding the findings into a final report.
Internal Reporting
- Manage the weekly internal reporting into leadership, helping collate a current and forward-looking activities calendar.
- Provide narrative summaries of key internal developments and engagement trends.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Build and foster strong relationships across business functions to understand communication needs and organizational priorities.
- Act as a strategic advisor to business units on internal messaging and employee engagement approaches.
- Participate in group-wide campaigns led by the Marketing & Communications team, ensuring internal alignment and amplification.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Necessary Knowledge and Experience
- 7+ years experience in a generalist communications role with internal communications experience, ideally for a government entity. Agency experience is favoured.
- Experience in coordinating key tasks with vendors and consultancies.
- Must have strong organizational and project management skills
- Must be able to move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Must have strong analytical skills to analyze metrics and create reports and good PowerPoint and Excel skills too.
- Demonstrated experience managing intranet platforms and internal digital channels.
- Experience managing surveys and engagement analytics.
- High organizational awareness and discretion in handling sensitive information.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Strategic Communications, Organizational Psychology, or MBA preferred.
- Certifications in Change Management or Internal Communications are advantageous.
- Training in employee engagement measurement tools is a plus.
