The Specialist Internal Medicine Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based medical care to adult patients by diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic medical conditions. The physician delivers high-quality outpatient and inpatient services, coordinates multidisciplinary care, promotes preventive medicine, and ensures compliance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA), UAE healthcare regulations, and international clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of adult medical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive medical history reviews and physical examinations.
- Evaluate, investigate, and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Interpret laboratory investigations, ECGs, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tests.
- Manage patients with chronic diseases including:
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Hypertension
- Dyslipidemia
- Asthma and COPD
- Thyroid disorders
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Infectious diseases
- Renal disorders
- Rheumatologic conditions
- Stabilize and manage medical emergencies within the scope of Internal Medicine.
- Refer patients appropriately to subspecialists when indicated.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning.
- Provide inpatient consultations and follow-up where applicable.
Preventive Care
- Perform routine health screenings and annual medical examinations.
- Promote preventive healthcare and early disease detection.
- Counsel patients on:
- Healthy lifestyle
- Nutrition
- Weight management
- Smoking cessation
- Exercise
- Vaccinations
- Educate patients regarding disease prevention and long-term disease management.
Patient Care
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered medical care.
- Explain diagnoses, investigations, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
- Obtain informed consent where applicable.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with UAE healthcare regulations.
- Ensure continuity of care through regular follow-up appointments.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
- Complete medical reports, insurance documentation, and referral letters.
- Adhere to DHA regulations, hospital policies, infection control protocols, and quality standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.
Education & Professional Development
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME).
- Maintain professional licensure and mandatory certifications.
- Stay updated with current evidence-based clinical guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- MD / Doctorate / Arab Board / Equivalent in Internal Medicine.
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
- Valid BLS certification.
- ACLS certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization clinical experience.
- UAE/GCC healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience in outpatient clinics and hospital settings is advantageous.
