About the Role

The KAUST Innovation Hubs aims to accelerate research commercialization by connecting with international innovation ecosystems, collaborating on research and education in support of innovation.

The Engagement Specialist will play a pivotal role in identifying, building, and nurturing opportunities and relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, companies, and entrepreneurs. Assist in developing and implementing strategies to engage various partners, driving the achievement of strategic objectives. This role will work closely with external partners as well as internal teams to create a dynamic ecosystem that supports the organization's innovation goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute engagement strategies tailored to the nation's specific needs and priorities of KSA in technology and industrial sectors based on KAUST and the international partners resources.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with government agencies, research institutions, universities, industry associations, and other relevant organizations to facilitate collaboration and technology transfer.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand the interests, needs, and motivations of identified stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders and partners, addressing inquiries, providing support, and fostering collaboration opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a database of contacts and interactions to track engagement efforts and outcomes.
  • Coordinate partnership agreements, including negotiation, documentation, and implementation.
  • Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness of the hub's initiatives and attract potential collaborators and partners.
  • Monitor industry trends, policy developments, and market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Work closely with internal teams to understand KAUST's capabilities and offerings, and effectively communicate these to external stakeholders to generate new opportunities and expedite the cooperation.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators, including partnership development, project milestones, and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports on engagement activities, including key accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement efforts, including meeting notes, correspondence, and partnership agreements.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and materials for internal and external stakeholders, as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement initiatives, provide recommendations to make adjustments as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Seek feedback from stakeholders and colleagues to identify areas for improvement and innovation in engagement strategies and processes.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop targeted content and materials to support engagement activities and enhance visibility in the target markets.
  • Assist in planning and organizing events, workshops, and other activities aimed at engaging stakeholders and fostering collaboration.
  • Provide on-site support during events to ensure smooth execution and positive participant experiences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related field; Graduate level degree in technical area is a plus.

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of the technology landscape and business environment in Saudi and the international hubs.
  • Strong knowledge in technology industry and business development.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, companies, and entrepreneurs.
  • Proficiency in networking and connecting with individuals and organizations within the innovation ecosystem, both in-person and virtually.
  • Awareness of cultural nuances and ability to navigate diverse cultural environments, particularly in the context of international collaboration.
  • Strong capability to negotiate partnership agreements and influence stakeholders to support the hub's initiatives and objectives.
  • Familiarity with the innovation ecosystem and supply chain resources in both countries.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in English is required, Chinese or Arabic preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum 6 years of experience of successfully managing and building strong relationships and stakeholder engagement, preferably in the context of international industrial cooperation, business development, innovation, and technology transfer.
  • Proven experience in establishing and nurturing extensive networks and contacts across government, academia, investors, and industry sectors in both KSA and China.
