Investment Portfolio Analytics - Performance Analytics Manager

Employer: Leading Sovereign Investment Institution

The firm is seeking an experienced Associate Vice President (AVP) Performance Analytics to lead the end-to-end performance measurement, reporting, and analytics function across a diverse multi-asset portfolio. This senior role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and acts as a strategic advisor, providing the COO with actionable insights, performance intelligence, and challenges where needed.

The AVP will coordinate cross-functional performance processes, ensure accuracy and governance of performance data, challenge investment teams with data-driven analysis, and elevate the institution's overall performance oversight capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Advisory & COO Partnership

  • Serve as a primary advisor to the COO on performance trends, operational metrics, and strategic implications.
  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable insights to support the COO's decision-making.
  • Constructively challenge investment teams using rigorous analysis to validate assumptions and highlight discrepancies.
  • Ensure the COO receives timely, accurate, and comprehensive performance reporting across all asset classes.
  • Coordinate information flow across functions to ensure alignment, transparency, and accurate data delivery.

Performance Reporting & Analytics

  • Oversee calculation, verification, and reconciliation of performance returns across retail and institutional portfolios.
  • Produce daily and monthly mutual fund performance summaries, highlighting key drivers and deviations.
  • Lead monthly composite performance reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Deliver performance commentary, attribution insights, and ad hoc analysis when requested.
  • Conduct peer group and benchmark comparisons to contextualize results and support oversight.
  • Support senior management with fast and accurate responses to performance-related queries.

Data Integrity, Systems & Controls

  • Maintain and oversee systems/databases to ensure the highest integrity of static and time-series performance data.
  • Develop, document, and enforce robust performance procedures and internal controls.
  • Identify and execute process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiency enhancements.
  • Oversee composite maintenance and ensure daily GIPS adherence and distribution.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve data discrepancies in coordination with investment and data teams.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Special Projects

  • Lead coordination with Investment, Risk, Strategy, Compliance, Finance, and Technology teams to ensure consistent metrics and reporting.
  • Support and/or lead high-profile, COO-sponsored projects related to performance analytics and operational oversight.
  • Ensure seamless communication, accurate data flow, and coordinated reporting across the organisation.
  • Manage ad hoc analytical requests and performance deep-dives for senior leadership.

Candidate Profile

  • 812+ years of experience in investment performance analytics, performance measurement, or portfolio oversight within asset management, institutional investment, or sovereign wealth funds.
  • Deep expertise in performance calculations, composites, benchmarking, attribution, and GIPS standards.
  • Strong ability to advise C-suite leadership and present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confident in challenging investment teams through data-driven insights and rigorous analysis.
  • Highly skilled in managing cross-functional coordination and complex reporting workflows.
  • Strong systems, data management, and BI/tool proficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, discipline, and the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
