Lunate aims to be one of the world's leading private markets solutions providers through SMAs and multi-asset class funds, seeking to generate best-in-class risk-adjusted returns for its clients.
Role Overview
Lunate Capital is seeking a Principal in Investor Relations to deepen Limited Partner (LP) coverage across Europe, building long-term institutional relationships and supporting capital raising across the full spectrum of private markets.
This role is responsible for owning day-to-day and strategic engagement with European LPs—including sovereign wealth funds, public and corporate pensions, insurers, endowments/foundations, family offices, wealth platforms, consultants, and gatekeepers—and for positioning Lunate's private markets platform and products with credibility, rigor, and consistency.
The individual will operate as a trusted partner to investors, ensuring best-in-class communication, transparent reporting, and proactive solutions aligned to investor objectives (returns, risk, liquidity, ESG/sustainability considerations, and governance).
Key Responsibilities
European LP Relationship Ownership & Coverage
- Serve as a primary relationship manager for a portfolio of European institutional LPs and key intermediaries (consultants, placement partners where relevant).
- Build multi-threaded relationships across CIO offices, private markets teams, risk, operations, legal, and ESG stakeholders.
- Develop and execute account plans to deepen share-of-wallet, expand product penetration, and increase retention/re-ups.
- Drive a high-touch coverage model: regular investor updates, portfolio reviews, thematic insights, on-site visits, and ad hoc support.
Capital Raising & Product Positioning
- Support fundraising efforts across Lunate's private markets strategies (as applicable), potentially including:
- Private Equity (buyout/growth/venture/co-investments)
- Private Credit (direct lending, special situations, structured credit)
- Real Assets / Infrastructure / Real Estate
- Secondaries / GP-led / LP-led solutions
- Multi-asset private markets solutions / bespoke mandates
- Articulate investment theses, pipeline, portfolio construction, risk frameworks, and performance drivers with institutional-grade clarity.
- Coordinate end-to-end investor diligence processes: data room, Q&A, IC materials, operational due diligence support, and closing deliverables.
Investor Communications, Reporting & Governance
- Own the preparation and delivery of investor materials: quarterly letters, factsheets, DDQs/RFPs, annual meeting materials, and ad hoc requests.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across communications; partner closely with Legal/Compliance and Finance.
- Support AGM / LPAC processes where relevant: agendas, minutes, presentations, governance and approvals.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Input
- Provide structured feedback to leadership on European LP sentiment, competitor activity, pricing/terms, allocation trends, regulatory changes, and consultant dynamics.
- Identify product gaps and investor needs; contribute to product development and go-to-market planning.
- Maintain a forward-looking pipeline of prospective investors and strategic partnerships in Europe.
Internal Collaboration & Operating Excellence
- Work seamlessly across investment teams and platform functions to bring investors timely insights and solutions.
- Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene and reporting (pipeline, activity, next steps, probability-weighted forecasts).
- Mentor junior IR team members (Associates/Senior Associates) and contribute to a high-performance, client-first culture.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 9–12 years of relevant experience in Investor Relations / Capital Formation / Institutional Sales / Client Solutions within private markets (GP, fund-of-funds, secondaries platform, private credit manager, infrastructure/real assets manager, or top-tier placement/IB coverage with demonstrable LP-facing exposure).
- Proven track record covering European institutional investors and navigating consultant/gatekeeper ecosystems.
- Demonstrable experience across multiple private markets strategies (not limited to one product), with the ability to discuss fund mechanics, performance attribution, valuation basics, and portfolio construction.
- Strong commercial judgment and relationship skills; able to build trust with senior stakeholders.
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills; experienced in building investor materials and responding to DDQs/RFPs.
- Strong project management capability; comfortable running multiple parallel diligence processes and coordinating internal teams.
- Working knowledge of private markets fund structures (limited partnerships, fee & carry, subscription lines, liquidity mechanics, co-invest, side letters).
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA/Master's) and/or professional designation (e.g., CFA, CAIA) is a plus.
