Department: In-Process Quality Assurance (IPQA)
Report to: Section Head of Conformance Assurance
Functional Relationships with: Equipment Engineering, Yield Engineering, Production, Product Design,
Procurement, Production Planning.
POSITION PROFILE
Based in: Singapore
Job site: Tuas
The successful candidate managing in-process non-conformance cases and ensuring effective containment and handling quality issues. The role supports root cause investigations, quality performance monitoring, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction. In addition, the engineer support continuous improvement initiatives, ensures compliance with QMS, safety, and environmental requirements, and supports cross-functional projects and organizational activities.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Non-Conformance Management
- Review and assess quality issues detected during production. Initiate containment actions to prevent further defective products from proceeding to the next process. Coordinate material segregation, hold, rework, scrap, or concession decisions. Monitor non-conformance (NC) cases and ensure timely closure.
Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving
- Support investigation on product defects and process abnormalities.
- Support problem solving and data analysis using Scientific and evidence-based actions using PDCA, 8D, FMEA, 5-Why, SPC or equivalent methods.
- Verify root causes through experiments, data validation, and process observations.
- Document findings and present investigation results to stakeholders.
Quality Performance Monitoring and Control
- Monitor the quality KPI and defect trends. Identify potential risks before becoming major quality issues. Escalate critical quality issues that may impact customers, safety, or production.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze quality trends and identify improvement opportunities. Participate in Kaizen or digital transformation projects. Initiate to reduce defects, waste, and process variation. Standardize best practices across departments or manufacturing sites. Support automation and system improvements to enhance quality management effectiveness.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed records of NCRs, investigations, and resolutions in the Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure proper document control and record retention compliance with ISO 9001, safety regulation, environment compliance.
Ad-hoc Assignments
- Perform secondary appointments (e.g. CFT, committees), tasks and projects assigned by direct supervisor/superior.
ABILITY/COMPETENCYREQUIRED:
- Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Quality Engineering or equivalent.
- Positive attitude, good inter-personal and communication skills are compulsory
