As an IT Business & Technology Support Specialist (Operations Partner), you will drive continuous improvement across departmental systems and operations by translating business needs into well governed, practical technology outcomes. Act as an operational partner to management and teams, ensuring changes are effectively designed, adopted, and embedded to enable efficient day to day operations and consistent IT business and technology outcomes

In This Role You Will

  • Own the end-to-end definition and management of IT business and operational requirements to ensure systems and processes consistently support departmental operations and organisational priorities. Translate operational needs into clear, approved requirements and ensure delivery outcomes are fit for purpose and sustainable in live operations.
  • Identify, assess, and address operational inefficiencies across systems, workflows, and processes in collaboration with managers and teams. Drive continuous optimisation by analysing performance data, reviewing existing practices, and implementing improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and service quality.
  • Manage the operational impact of system and process changes, ensuring alignment with long-term technology strategy and cross-department integration. Assess risks and dependencies, escalate issues through defined governance forums, and maintain accurate operational documentation, controls, and performance measures to support compliance and audit readiness.
  • Ensure operational readiness for system and process changes by leading communication, training, and user readiness activities. Embed new capabilities into day-to-day operations, ensuring changes are adopted, understood, and consistently applied by end users.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for departmental systems and processes by resolving operational issues, analysing usage and performance trends, and advising on corrective actions. Promote standardised ways of working and best practices that improve productivity, data quality, and cost control.
  • Contribute to the department's role as a centre of excellence by supporting training, knowledge management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Strengthen operational capability by ensuring teams have the skills, understanding, and discipline required to maximise the value of systems and processes in steady state operations.

Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or similar fields
  • 5+ years of experience in an Information Technology or operational IT environment, supporting live operations, system change, and continuous improvement.
  • In depth practical knowledge of the department's operational environment, systems, processes, and performance drivers.
  • Strong capability in mapping, documenting, analysing, and redesigning business and operational processes.
  • Proven experience in process improvement, workflow optimisation, and supporting structured change or project delivery.
  • Ability to analyse operational issues, assess impacts, and design sustainable, well governed solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage, influence, and align managers, users, and technical teams.
  • Ability to understand and balance the needs of different user groups and translate them into practical, workable solutions.
  • Sound working knowledge of IT systems and environments sufficient to assess operational impacts and engage effectively with technical teams.
