DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
The IT Business Analyst serves as a key liaison between business users and the technology team, responsible for understanding, analysing, and translating business needs into clear system and functional specifications. This role supports the end-to-end lifecycle of technology enhancements, from feasibility assessments to implementation and user adoption. The IT Business Analyst also ensures that proposed solutions are aligned with operational goals and user expectations while supporting business transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
KEYRESPONSIBILITIES
. Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and document business requirements, workflows, and pain points.
. Translate business requirements into functional specifications and system interface documents, ensuring clarity and alignment with user needs.
. Assist in identifying gaps in current systems and provide actionable recommendations for enhancements.
. Support feasibility studies and risk-benefit analysis for proposed systems, replacements, or enhancements.
. Contribute to the preparation of business cases and system proposal documents for decision-making by project sponsors.
. Analyze the capabilities of existing systems and assess their suitability for supporting proposed changes.
. Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including design specifications, interface definitions, and process flows.
. Ensure all documentation complies with internal quality standards and supports seamless development and implementation.
. Develop test plans and test cases in coordination with project stakeholders.
. Develop &review project plans to determine the timeframe for timely accomplishment of project.
. Assess consolidated project plans for dependencies & gaps.
. Prepare budgeting needs based on project scope.
. Develop technical documentation of design, functional documentations and user manuals.
. Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and integration testing log defects and track resolutions.
. Document test results and provide end-user training materials and post-implementation support documentation.
. Support the development and maintenance of project plans, tracking progress against key milestones and deliverables.
. Assist in estimating resource and budgetary requirements based on project scope and complexity.
. Act as the bridge between technical teams and business users, ensuring effective communication throughout the system implementation lifecycle.
. Coordinate and deliver training sessions for new system users to ensure smooth adoption of tools and processes.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
. Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
. Minimum 3 - 5years of experience in business analysis, systems implementation, or IT project coordination roles, with prior project management experience required.
. Prior experience in retail industry will be an added advantage.
. Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and system analysis methodologies.
. Proficient in creating functional specifications, user stories, process flow diagrams, and test cases.
. Experience in stakeholder engagement, requirements elicitation, and solution documentation.
. Familiarity with change control, data validation, UAT coordination, and defect management processes.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
. Supply chain domain experience will be considered an added advantage.
. Certification in business analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) is a plus.
