IT Help Desk Support

Position Requires Local Candidates Only.

Classification: Institutional Support
Reports To: Technology Support Coordinator
Location: Saad Al Abdullah, Kuwait

Job Purpose


The IT Help Desk Support is responsible for providing first-line technical assistance to faculty and staff across the university. This role supports computer systems, applications, and related technologies by diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, assisting with installations and configurations, and maintaining network equipment and servers. The position requires strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

General IT Support

  • Configure, install, and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Provide desktop support for PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and set up new computer systems and hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues efficiently.
  • Support and train users on applications such as Canvas LMS, Banner SIS, and Microsoft 365.
  • Test and evaluate new software updates and application deployments.
  • Conduct IT orientation and onboarding support for new staff members.
  • Manage IT asset inventory including computers, peripherals, and IT equipment.
  • User & System Administration
  • Manage domain access and email registration for users.
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory accounts and permissions.
  • Network & Infrastructure Support
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Set up and manage laptops and projectors for presentations and university events.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of desktop operating systems, networks, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining IT documentation.
  • Flexibility with shift timings, including occasional evenings or weekends based on operational needs.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (required).
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in IT Help Desk or technical support roles.
  • Certified training in IT Help Desk Support (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL, or equivalent) preferred.
