Backend Software Engineer

The Job

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to work side by side with other engineers to develop and maintain applications across the customer journey lifecycle at Bookingcom You will collaborate and align with your colleagues to ensure deliverables comply with requirements and needs of our customers

This will include engineering managers product managers software and data engineers

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and maintain APIs tools and capabilities to centralise data events

Solve technical problems to improve our development process increase our effi ciency and unlock new business opportunities

Contribute to technical discussion around software architecture and help the team to make decisions that are agile incremental and benefi cial for the long term

Systematically identify patterns and underlying issues in complex situations and to fi nd solutions by applying logical and analytical thinking

Provide stable and well defi ned solutions to simplify and accelerate business decisions as well as strengthen the integrity of our payment pipelines

The job requirements

Minimum 6 years of handson experience in software engineering with strong knowledge of at least one language like Java Preferrable Python or Golang

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Mathematics or a related fi eld or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent

Proven experience with System Design and Software Architecture

Strong communication and team collaboration skills

Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail

Experience working with teams located in different timezones is a plus

Experience with Reliability Site Reliability Observability and Monitoring is a strong plus
