Job Title: Specialist Lifting Operation Engineer

KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Client or Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi.

Job Purpose

The Specialist Lifting Operations Engineer shall be responsible for planning, engineering, coordinating, and supervising all lifting and rigging activities associated with the ADNOC Offshore LTDP Package 4 project. The role ensures that all lifting operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards, project specifications, international lifting regulations, and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lifting Engineering & Planning

  • Prepare, review, and approve lifting studies and lifting plans for routine and critical lifts.
  • Develop lift methodologies for offshore modules, structures, piping spools, equipment, and heavy packages.
  • Verify crane capacities, load calculations, lift radii, ground bearing pressures, and rigging configurations.
  • Conduct engineering assessments for complex and non-routine lifting operations.
  • Review contractor lifting procedures and ensure compliance with ADNOC Offshore requirements.

Offshore Construction Support

  • Provide lifting engineering support during fabrication, transportation, installation, commissioning, and hook-up activities.
  • Coordinate lifting activities with construction, marine, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Participate in SIMOPS planning and risk assessments for offshore lifting activities.
  • Ensure lifting operations are executed according to approved procedures and project requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC Offshore HSE policies and lifting standards.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Task Risk Assessment (TRA), and Toolbox Talks.
  • Monitor lifting operations to ensure adherence to safe lifting practices.
  • Identify lifting hazards and develop mitigation measures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.

Rigging & Equipment Management

  • Review and approve selection of cranes, lifting appliances, lifting gears, spreader beams, shackles, slings, and other rigging equipment.
  • Ensure lifting equipment certifications are current and compliant with ADNOC and international standards.
  • Verify inspection records and maintenance status of cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Assess suitability of lifting equipment for offshore environmental conditions.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with ADNOC Offshore representatives, project management teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Support lifting-related technical queries during engineering and construction phases.
  • Participate in project review meetings and provide technical recommendations for lifting operations.
  • Coordinate with marine and logistics teams for transport and installation campaigns.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare lifting studies, load calculations, rigging drawings, and critical lift packages.
  • Maintain lifting registers, certification records, and compliance documentation.
  • Submit lifting operation reports and lessons learned documentation.
  • Support project close-out and handover documentation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) certification preferred.
  • Appointed Person for Lifting Operations certification preferred.
  • Additional lifting and rigging certifications will be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 12-15 years of oil and gas industry experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in lifting engineering and heavy lifting operations.
  • Strong experience in offshore EPC, brownfield, hook-up, commissioning, and construction projects.
  • Previous ADNOC Offshore, Zakum, Umm Lulu, NASR, SARB, or similar offshore experience preferred.
  • Experience with critical lifts, module installations, and heavy equipment handling.
  • Familiarity with offshore vessel crane operations and marine lifting activities.
