Role Description The Joinery Draftsman is a full-time, on-site role based at Arab Wood's facility in Abu Dhabi. The person in this role prepares detailed shop drawings and technical layouts for custom joinery items such as kitchens, wardrobes, cabinets, and other bespoke furniture. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting design concepts and client requirements, producing accurate CAD drawings, coordinating with designers, project managers, and production teams, and ensuring drawings align with material specifications and manufacturing processes. The Joinery Draftsman reviews measurements from site surveys, updates drawings to reflect revisions or client feedback, and maintains organized documentation for all projects. The role also involves checking drawings for accuracy, compliance with quality standards, and readiness for fabrication and installation.
Qualifications

• Strong technical drafting skills with proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and familiarity with joinery and woodworking detailing.
• Ability to interpret architectural and interior design drawings and convert concepts into precise shop drawings and cutting lists.
• Knowledge of materials, hardware, and construction methods used in joinery, including panel layouts, carcass construction, and finishing details.
• Solid analytical and measurement skills, with attention to accuracy, dimensional tolerances, and site coordination requirements.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with designers, engineers, production staff, and site teams.
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects, version control of drawings, and timely delivery of documentation.
• Previous experience as a joinery or furniture draftsman, ideally in custom kitchens, wardrobes, or similar interior fit-out projects.
• Relevant technical diploma or degree in drafting, interior design, architecture, or a related field; vocational training in joinery is an advantage.
• Ability to work on-site full time in Abu Dhabi, with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
