Job Summary
The Junior Facilities Engineer supports the operation, maintenance, and improvement of building systems and infrastructure. This role assists in ensuring facilities are safe, efficient, compliant, and well-maintained, while gaining hands-on experience in facilities engineering and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and utilities.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance issues, safety risks, or improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers under supervision.
- Help maintain documentation such as maintenance logs, service reports, drawings, and compliance records.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability projects.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Respond to facilities-related service requests and support troubleshooting activities.
- Participate in small projects such as minor upgrades, refurbishments, or equipment installations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 23 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or engineering roles (internships count).
- Basic understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Familiarity with safety standards and maintenance best practices.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read basic technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of CMMS is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to facility management systems or building automation systems (BMS).
- Basic knowledge of energy management or sustainability practices.
- Relevant certifications (or willingness to obtain them).
