Job Description

The Cell Migration and Signaling laboratory in the Biological and Environmental Sciences and Engineering Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is seeking a PhD trained in cancer research and/or glycobiology for a fully funded post-doctoral fellowship in basic and translational metastasis research for up to 3 years.

The Merzaban laboratory investigates adhesion molecules/adhesion systems and glycan-mediated mechanisms of cancer progression. Research is both basic and translational. We work with established cell lines, primary human tissues/cells, and mouse models of cancer (mainly breast and leukemia as well as others). Our research utilizes traditional molecular and cellular biological, biochemical, and glycobiological techniques, as well as new technologies (for example, mass spectrometry, metabolomics, and single cell RNA sequencing, using artificial intelligence based on the expression of glycosyltransferases to predict cancer types/subtypes/survival, nanomaterials, etc). We also have active collaborations on using state-of-the-art super resolution fluorescence microscopy techniques to zoom in atz these mechanisms with high spatial and temporal resolution.

This position is available immediately, though start date is flexible.
