Junior Drilling Engineer
We are seeking a Junior Drilling Engineer to join a dynamic energy operations team based in Abu Dhabi. In this role, you will contribute to the design and planning of wells, ensuring optimal investment outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental responsibility. You will also support drilling execution by providing technical guidance and updating well plans as operations progress.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare well data sheets and technical documentation
- Design and specify wellhead and drilling equipment
- Develop detailed drilling programmes
- Collect and analyse operational data, providing recommendations where needed
- Perform engineering analysis of rig-site data and produce regular reports
- Monitor daily drilling progress and costs, recommending improvements where appropriate
- Collaborate with contractors and service providers (e.g. cementing and drilling fluids)
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and proper well maintenance
- Support the preparation and administration of drilling and service contracts
- Coordinate and assist in supervising drilling team activities
- Contribute to well planning and engineering design work
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to assess project viability and track drilling performance
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline
- Experience in oil and gas drilling operations
- Previous exposure to well-site activities (e.g. Drilling Supervisor or Well Site Engineer roles)
Technical Skills & Training
- Knowledge of drilling engineering technologies
- Training in drilling operations and health, safety, and environmental practices
- Familiarity with industry software (e.g. drilling design and reporting tools)
- Understanding of risk management and change management in drilling operations
Core Competencies
- Solid understanding of drilling operations, including drilling fluids and cementing design
- Exposure to advanced drilling techniques is advantageous
- Awareness of complex drilling environments (e.g. extended reach, high pressure/high temperature wells)
- Strong data handling and computer skills
- Knowledge of completion and production optimisation is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Languages
- Proficiency in English required
- Arabic language skills are an advantage
