As a Junior Facade Designer supports the technical engineering team in preparing detailed architectural shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and structural concepts for aluminum and glass facade systems. This entry-to-junior level role is responsible for translating architectural intent into production-ready technical drawings compliant with UAE building codes and project specs.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailing & Drafting: Draft 2D and basic 3D technical drawings for curtain wall systems, unitized facades, aluminum cladding, skylights, windows, and doors using AutoCAD and BIM software.
- Fabrication Support: Prepare precise assembly and installation drawings, cutting lists, and material take-offs (BOQ) for factory production.
- Architectural Review: Assist senior designers in analyzing architectural tender drawings, structural calculations, and consultant specifications.
- Material Coordination: Coordinate with factory procurement and production teams to verify profiles, glass specifications, accessories, and thermal performance requirements.
- Site & Production Liaison: Adjust designs based on site measurements, production constraints, and QA/QC feedback.
- Document Control: Maintain organized drawing logs, submittals, and revision histories across multiple active projects.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Structural Engineering.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in aluminum and glass facade detailing, structural glazing, or architectural metals (fresh graduates with relevant coursework/internships considered).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of facade system mechanics, thermal performance, waterproofing, wind-load principles, and joinery details.
- Drawing Accuracy: Strong ability to read architectural plans, sections, structural drawings, and civil details.
- Communication: Fluency in English (written and spoken) for cross-functional teamwork.
