JOB PURPOSE:
The IT Helpdesk professional is responsible for providing first-line support to users experiencing technical difficulties. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, as well as providing guidance and resolutions to ensure seamless IT operations within the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Respond to user inquiries and support requests via phone, email, or in-person with a customer-centric approach.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems, documenting solutions and resolutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Assist with the onboarding of new employees by setting up accounts and providing necessary training on software and tools.
- Maintain a knowledge base of common issues and solutions to improve response times and efficiency.
- Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT staff when necessary, ensuring timely resolution for users.
- Monitor ticketing systems to track issues and ensure follow-up on outstanding requests.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support system upgrades and deployments, providing user feedback and insights.
- Educate users on best practices for IT security and efficient use of technology resources.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+) are beneficial.
Experience
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a helpdesk or technical support role.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and software applications.
- Basic understanding of networking and IT security principles.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
