Job Summary
A reputable Insurance Company in Qatar is looking for a Junior Medical Underwriter to join its team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the team to assess medical insurance applications, evaluate risks, and support effective underwriting decisions in line with company guidelines and policies.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of health insurance, medical terminology, risk assessment, and underwriting practices, with the ability to make accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess individual and/or group medical insurance applications.
- Evaluate medical history, pre-existing conditions, medical reports, diagnostic results, and other relevant information.
- Determine the level of medical risk and make appropriate underwriting decisions.
- Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and established authority limits.
- Analyze claims history, utilization patterns, and loss ratios where applicable.
- Coordinate with brokers, sales teams, healthcare providers, claims teams, and other stakeholders to obtain additional information when required.
- Support pricing and renewal decisions by providing appropriate risk assessment.
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Medical/Health Insurance Underwriting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, diseases, treatments, and healthcare procedures.
- Good knowledge of health insurance products, policy terms, exclusions, and underwriting principles.
- Experience in individual and/or group medical insurance underwriting is preferred.
Requirements:
- Must be currently based in Qatar
- Valid Qatar ID (QID)
- Transferable visa with NOC
