Role Description The Junior Project Accountant – NGO will support the financial management of SEKEM's non-profit projects, ensuring accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of project-related income and expenditures. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with project budgeting, preparing vouchers and journal entries, reconciling accounts, maintaining financial documentation, and supporting compliance with donor and internal financial guidelines. The role will collaborate with project managers and NGO team members to provide timely financial updates, contribute to grant reporting, and help monitor project costs against approved budgets. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in audits, supporting the implementation of financial controls, and contributing to process improvements within the NGO's finance function. This is a full-time, on-site role based at SEKEM's headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including bookkeeping, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience or strong interest in NGO or donor-funded project accounting, including budgeting, grant tracking, and cost monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP software; ability to manage and analyze financial data accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, document management, and ability to meet deadlines in a multi-project environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant internships or 1–2 years of experience are beneficial.
  • Interest in sustainable development, organic agriculture, and social impact initiatives, aligned with SEKEM's values and mission.
