Junior Retail Architect

The Store Design Specialist / Junior Retail Architect will support the planning, design, development, and execution of retail stores and fit-out projects across the organization.

The role will work closely with the Retail Architect Lead, internal teams, architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors to develop and deliver store designs in line with approved brand standards, design concepts, technical requirements, timelines, and quality expectations.

The position will be responsible for preparing and updating architectural drawings, supporting 3D design development, coordinating technical documentation, following up on site execution, and ensuring that approved designs are properly implemented.

5. Key Responsibilities

A. Store Design & Space Planning

• Support the development of retail store layouts and design concepts in alignment with approved brand guidelines.
• Prepare architectural layouts, floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings.
• Assist in space planning to ensure effective use of retail areas and a good customer experience.
• Support the development and modification of store concepts based on project requirements.
• Assist in material, finishes, fixtures, and design selections.
• Ensure consistency of design elements and brand identity across different store locations.

B. Technical Drawings & Documentation

• Prepare and update AutoCAD drawings and other architectural documentation.
• Develop and maintain technical drawings, design presentations, and construction documentation.
• Support the preparation and development of 3D models and visualizations using SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, or similar tools.
• Coordinate drawing revisions and incorporate feedback from the Retail Architect Lead, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Ensure drawings and documents are accurate, organized, and updated throughout the project lifecycle.

C. Fit-Out & Site Coordination

• Support the Retail Architect Lead in monitoring store fit-out and construction activities.
• Conduct site visits to follow up on design implementation and identify discrepancies between approved drawings and site execution.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project stakeholders regarding design and technical requirements.
• Raise technical issues and support the team in identifying appropriate solutions.
• Follow up on project progress and report any delays, design issues, or execution concerns.

D. Design Quality & Compliance

• Ensure that store designs and drawings follow approved company and brand standards.
• Support compliance with applicable building regulations, safety requirements, and authority requirements.
• Review site execution against approved drawings, specifications, and design standards.
• Identify design or quality issues and escalate them to the Retail Architect Lead.
• Support corrective actions when design or execution issues are identified.

E. Project Support

• Assist with project schedules, design deliverables, and project documentation.
• Support multiple store design and fit-out projects simultaneously.
• Coordinate with internal departments to understand business and operational requirements.
• Assist in preparing design presentations and project updates for internal stakeholders.
• Maintain organized project records, drawings, revisions, and documentation.

F. Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on retail design trends, materials, store concepts, and industry practices.
• Suggest practical design improvements that can enhance customer experience, functionality, quality, or cost efficiency.
• Support the development and implementation of new store concepts and design initiatives.

6. Job Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in retail architecture, store design, interior design, commercial fit-out, or a related field.
• Experience in retail or commercial projects is preferred.
• Experience with site coordination and fit-out projects is an advantage.
