The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing a range of laboratory activities within their designated area of work, including sample reception and management, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry testing. The role ensures accurate and timely analysis of samples in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and regulatory requirements. TheLaboratory Technologist is also responsible for maintaining laboratory records, supporting quality and accreditation requirements, andensuring laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, track, store, and manage laboratory samples while maintaining chain of custody and traceability.
  • Perform sample preparation, extraction, testing, and organic/inorganic chemical analyses in accordance with SOPs and quality standards.
  • Accurately record, review, and manage laboratory data and documentation using LIMS and other laboratory systems.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Support compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, quality assurance programs, audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to laboratory health, safety, environmental, and waste management requirements.
  • Prepare reagents, standards, controls, and laboratory consumables and monitor inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with laboratory teams to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 1-3 years laboratory experience in chemical analysis, sample preparation, and testing.
  • Familiarity with LIMS and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry, laboratory quality systems, and analytical techniques.
  • Skilled in laboratory documentation, equipment operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills with a commitment to safety, quality, andcontinuous improvement.
