Job Description

Job Title: Landing Gear Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:

Repair and Fabrication:

  • Carry out repair and fabrication of aircraft parts and components following procedures and instructions from aircraft manuals and other approved documents.
  • Use heavy machinery such as lathe, milling, and other powered tools for repair and fabrication work.

Technical Documentation:

  • Obtain and understand Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Service Bulletins (SB), and other aircraft documentation, including engineering drawings and maintenance charts.
  • Work according to technical data, CMM, IPC, SB, and engineering drawings to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on various aircraft components.

Component Maintenance:

  • Repair, modify, replace, or perform routine maintenance on aircraft components to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure work is completed within turnaround time requirements and complete job assignments in a timely manner.
  • Perform mid-level (moderately complex) mechanical operations on production/repair components, including troubleshooting to component level.
  • Inspect and repair components and equipment to ensure compliance with OEM Component Maintenance/Overhaul Manuals.

Training and Communication:

  • Complete on-the-job training (OJT) and required reading.
  • Communicate effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels, keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and any difficulties encountered.

Manual Interpretation:

  • Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement activities across the cell.

Shop Maintenance and Safety:

  • Perform shop area cleaning and maintenance as required.
  • Adhere to shop rules, safety requirements, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) risks and impacts of work activities and the benefits of improving EHS performance.
  • Understand and comply with EHS policies and procedures and understand the consequences of failing to comply.
  • Acquire necessary EHS competencies in accordance with EHS policy.

Miscellaneous:

  • Perform ad hoc tasks as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with heavy machinery such as lathe, milling, and powered tools.
  • Ability to read and understand CMM, IPC, SB, and other technical documents.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and repairing aircraft components.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to complete required training and adhere to all EHS policies.
