Role Overview
The Landscape Design Director will lead the landscape design function, driving strategic direction, technical excellence, and efficient project delivery across a portfolio of large-scale developments. This role requires a seasoned leader with strong design, commercial, and team management capabilities within an A&E consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement departmental strategy aligned with overall business objectives
- Establish KPIs and performance benchmarks
- Drive continuous improvement in design efficiency and output quality
2. Project Delivery
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all landscape design packages
- Monitor project progress and proactively address delays or risks
- Coordinate closely with project managers and cross-functional teams
3. Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical authority for all landscape design outputs
- Review and approve design concepts, drawings, BOQs, and specifications
- Ensure compliance with international standards and Saudi regulations
4. Resource Management
- Plan and allocate resources effectively across projects
- Maintain optimal team utilization rates
- Support recruitment planning and workforce optimization
5. Talent Management
- Lead hiring, performance management, and team development initiatives
- Mentor and coach team members to enhance capabilities
- Develop succession plans and address performance gaps
6. Commercial Management
- Contribute to project pricing and cost estimation
- Optimize use of design hours to support profitability
- Align departmental performance with revenue targets
7. Stakeholder & Coordination Management
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across projects
- Interface with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities
- Represent the department in technical and client discussions
8. Quality & Process Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and procedures
- Implement robust design review and documentation processes
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Engineering
- Master's Degree is preferred
Experience
- 15–20+ years of experience in landscape design within an A&E consultancy
- Proven experience in delivering large-scale projects
- GCC experience is highly preferred
