Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Implement corrosion control strategy through conducting, analysing and interpreting corrosion survey data and monitoring equipment corrosion in compliance with SASREF strategies and operational priorities (profit, safety, reliability, and environmental requirements).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Review process parameters and plant performance to prepare for effective discussions relevant production teams pertaining to corrosion/erosion related issues and potential problems. Work closely with respective inspectors to specify required data, data collection methodology and templates.
  • Review IOW's on daily basis and advise area inspectors and SPIRIT on the basis of observations (if any). Analyse high corrosion rate trends and other related corrosion survey information to determine the causes of potential corrosion and make the required adjustment to IOW. Introduce and update new IOW's if deemed necessary.
  • Provide high level support to area lead inspection engineer for sophisticated corrosion cases which requires detailed RCA and may requires follow up with external specialist. Have the Corrosion related LFI's collected, studied and discussed with the Inspection team to increase awareness and prevent recurrence. Accommodate any internal or external assessments/audits to SASREF integrity management system and own action tracking process.
  • Own and update the Corrosion Control Manuals (RBI reports) of all Operating Units at SASREF. Lead periodic discussions with SPIRIT teams and ensure that all RBI recommendations are implemented as agreed.
  • Review MOC's in terms of Corrosion and Metallurgy and advise the team to have optimum results. Participate in review of project's packages with respect to corrosion (i.e. during design basis scoping, project proposal and detailed design phases). Participate in commissioning, start up and testing of any new corrosion monitoring system.
  • Play major role in establishing and maintaining integrity management system for static equipment by developing missing inspection strategy and follow up the implementation plan. Provide sound and practical recommendations based on data collected, trend analysis and conducted studies to prevent corrosion and maximize plant integrity.
  • Work with other engineering groups to provide data, information and recommendations related activities such as facility modifications, corrosion programs, chemical treatment processes, and chemical injection applications. Review and update changes proposed to corrosion standards, procedures and manuals and participate in identifying, planning and implementing work process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure the business processes and work activities, relevant to position, are executed in compliance with SASREF policy, procedures and best practice to achieve the business objectives in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner. Lead, motivate, develop and assess the assigned team to achieve business objectives and grow capability.

  • Ensure that measures to protect personal safety and well-being are always in place and that personal actions do not jeopardize the safety and well-being of others.
  • Adhere strictly to all IOWs, Safe Operating Procedures, and Safe Work Instructions - thus preventing potential WPS and PSM incidents at all times.
  • Always comply with the SASREF HSE Policy, the 5 Safety Principles and 8 Golden Safety Rules.

  • No personal injury or injury to a third party.
  • No WPS or PSM incident caused.

  • Cybersecurity:

Description:

  • Maintain SASREF's cybersecurity by implementing security best practices.
  • Adhere strictly to all cybersecurity requirements while dealing with SASREF's assets and data
  • Comply always with SASREF's information security policies.
  • Performance Indicators:
  • Reporting all suspicious emails including the phishing tests.
  • 0 Failure to the phishing campaign tests.
  • 100% Completion of the assigned cybersecurity awareness courses.
  • 0 Cybersecurity violation or negative behavior.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of total hands-on experience in the downstream oil, gas, or petrochemical industry focusing on materials science and corrosion management, 5 years in refinery.
