Job Description

Position Title: Instrument & Control (I&C) Technical Lead Nuclear

Reports to: Site Manager

Direct Reports: I&C Technicians, Supervisors, and Support Staff

JOB PURPOSE

The Instrument & Control (I&C) Technical Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all I&C systems during outage periods at the nuclear power plant. This position is responsible for leading and overseeing all preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and modifications of instrumentation and control systems, while ensuring strict compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, plant procedures, and the highest standards of safety and quality.

The I&C Technical Lead serves as the subject matter expert in the domain, providing technical leadership, developing team competencies, supporting engineering evaluations, and ensuring operational excellence throughout planning, execution, and post-outage phases for the nuclear power plant.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The I&C Technical Lead develops and prepares the scope of work for all instrumentation and control activities related to outage maintenance. He/she ensures adherence to preparation milestones, leads team familiarization, and guarantees safe and timely execution of scheduled activities.

The Technical Lead oversees all aspects of planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of assigned I&C work packages and provides technical guidance throughout all phases. This role ensures all activities comply with safety, quality, and operational standards, contributing to the reliable and efficient functioning of critical plant systems.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum Experience: 710 years of experience in I&C; maintenance and leadership roles in a nuclear power plant or similar highly regulated industrial environment.

Skills

  • Strong technical expertise in I&C; systems, sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control loops.
  • In-depth knowledge of DCS, PLC, and process automation.
  • Skilled in calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation in nuclear or high-reliability settings.
  • Familiar with nuclear safety systems, reactor protection systems, and process control instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs; loop diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
