*** Must have strong experience across engines/turbines, heat exchangers/HRSGs, cooling systems
Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering and productization company building industrial, production-ready systems for enterprise and institutional customers worldwide, seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical and thermal backbone of a flagship prototype program. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the intersection of architecture, integration, and real-world testingtaking a system from prototype through to a frozen v1.0, production-intent design.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall system architecture, including mechanical layout, thermal routing, balance-of-plant interfaces, and integration assumptions.
- Define and control interface boundaries and ICDs across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines.
- Drive P&IDs, equipment specifications, and integration risk management through TRL-7 testing.
- Support technical evaluations during procurement of turbines, HRSGs, cooling systems, and critical auxiliaries.
- Lead failure-mode thinking (FMEA-style), ensuring risks are mitigated and verifiable through testing.
- Embed manufacturability and serviceability into the designaccess, lifting, maintenance, and long-term operability.
Requirements:
- 8+ years experience in mechanical or systems engineering within power, industrial packages, or mission-critical equipment environments.
- Strong background integrating packaged equipment (turbines/engines, heat exchangers/HRSGs, cooling systems).
- Ability to produce certification-quality documentationdrawings, narratives, and calculation notes.
- Comfort working hands-on in workshops and directly with vendors and suppliers.
- Product-first mindset with comfort around design freeze and disciplined change control.
