About Your Team

You'll be part of our Planning team, working closely with the Planning Manager, technical teams, construction managers, procurement, and the wider project team.

The team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project programmes while ensuring construction sequencing, resources, risks, and contractual requirements are effectively incorporated into the planning process.

Your Role

As a Lead Planning Engineer, you will:

Programme Development & Management

• Manage the planning process in line with ALEC standards and procedures.
• Review drawings, contract documents, BOQs, and specifications to develop comprehensive project programmes.
• Develop and manage baseline programmes and subsequent revisions.
• Set up project data in Primavera P6, including calendars, activity coding, and Work Breakdown Structures.
• Sequence and link activities against project milestones and establish the critical path.
• Ensure contractual deliverables are fully incorporated into the programme.
• Prepare programme narratives and Basis of Schedule documentation.

Planning, Risk & Coordination

• Work closely with the Planning Manager, technical teams, and construction management to determine sequencing and methodology.
• Identify programme and delivery risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Lead and document programme, logistics, and delivery workshops.
• Engage with procurement teams and the supply chain to identify programme constraints and viable solutions.
• Assess instructions, RFIs, and other project documentation for their impact against the baseline programme.
• Investigate alternative and innovative solutions and assess their impact on project delivery.

Reporting & Programme Controls

• Develop weekly and monthly reports and dashboards.
• Report progress and performance internally and to the Employer's representatives.
• Support 4D digital aspects of progress submissions.
• Support the development and submission of Extensions of Time (EOTs), including associated responses.

Resources & Performance

• Establish resource requirements using ALEC standard outputs.
• Resource-load programmes and develop baseline resource curves.
• Liaise with construction managers regarding resource requirements and realign plans where necessary.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering, Building, or equivalent degree.
• 10+ years of experience as a Planning Engineer within the building construction industry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience within a tender department.
• Proven technical knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and developing team members on projects exceeding AED 500 million.
• Strong contractual awareness.

Competencies

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to monitor progress and adjust plans where required.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively and persuasively with colleagues, clients, and project stakeholders.
