JOB DESCRIPTION LEAD PROTECTION & CONTROL ENGINEER

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Lead Protection & Control Engineer to support onshore substation projects in Kuwait. The role involves leading protection and control engineering activities, ensuring reliable substation automation, and integrating substations with existing control systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead protection and control engineering activities for onshore substations.
Develop and review protection philosophies, control schemes, and technical documentation.
Design, configure, test, and commission numerical protection relays from major OEMs.
Implement and manage IEC 61850-based substation automation systems.
Coordinate integration of new substations with existing SCADA systems.
Review relay settings, protection coordination studies, FAT and SAT activities.
Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and support troubleshooting.
Interface with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 12 years of experience in protection and control engineering for onshore substations.
Expert knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems.
Experience integrating new substations with existing SCADA systems.
Hands-on experience with numerical protection relays from major manufacturers.
Strong understanding of substation protection schemes and testing procedures.
Oil & gas experience is not mandatory.
Leadership and coordination skills.
