Job Summary
On behalf of our India-based client in the Manufacturing & Industrial Technology sector, we are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive complex, companywide technology initiatives with broad impact. This role involves designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms, setting engineering standards and best practices, and leading technical teams to meet strategic delivery goals. This is a fully remote opportunity with flexible engagement models, including full-time, part-time, and contractual arrangements, enabling professionals to contribute based on their expertise, availability, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex, enterprise-scale technology initiatives with organization-wide impact, ensuring alignment with business priorities and engineering excellence.
- Define and promote engineering standards, architectural principles, and best practices to build scalable, secure, and maintainable technology solutions.
- Design, develop, test, debug, and document robust software applications while maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and reliability.
- Assess and optimize complex technology solutions to align with strategic business goals, evolving technology landscapes, and long-term architectural vision.
- Drive technical decision-making by establishing engineering best practices, influencing architecture, and leading teams in delivering innovative, high-impact solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, senior engineers, product stakeholders, and industry experts to solve complex technical challenges and accelerate technology innovation.
- Provide technical leadership through project ownership, mentoring, peer coaching, and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
Required Skills
- Proven software engineering experience of 5+ years, with equivalent qualifications through a combination of work experience, formal education, or specialized technical training.
- Deep expertise in Golang and/or Python or .NET
- Proven track record designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift, container orchestration, platform engineering, and production operations
- Extensive experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud architecture patterns
- Strong expertise in system design, scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and security architecture
- Advanced experience with CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.), and developer productivity tooling
- Deep understanding of software engineering excellence, including testing strategies, automated quality gates, architecture reviews, and SDLC best practices
- Experience defining technical strategy, architecture roadmaps, and engineering standards
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, influence stakeholders, and drive delivery across multiple teams
- Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with experience growing engineering talent and fostering engineering culture
- Experience with platform observability, SRE practices, incident management, and operational excellence
AI Experience
- Hands-on experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and engineering platforms to optimize software development processes and improve team productivity is considered an advantage
- Interest in applying AI-driven approaches to observability, incident management, or SRE workflows
Managerial Experience
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, teams, or serving as a peer mentor
- Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with experience growing engineering talent and fostering engineering culture
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive delivery across multiple teams
Operational Experience
- Expert-level experience with production operations, platform engineering, and container orchestration
- Experience with platform observability, SRE practices, and incident management
- Advanced experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code for operational excellence
- Experience defining and upholding SDLC best practices, quality gates, and architecture reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree (any discipline)
- Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with strong expertise in designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native and distributed systems.
- Experience working successfully in remote, distributed teams, with the ability to independently manage priorities and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.
Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Red Hat OpenShift certification
- AWS/Azure/GCP cloud architecture certification
- Certification in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or related cloud technologies is a plus and demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence.
