Purpose of the Role
The Teaching Assistant and Bus Attendant at Smart Vision School plays an important role in supporting students learning, wellbeing, and safety throughout the school day.
During school hours, the Teaching Assistant works closely with teachers to support classroom learning, assist students with diverse needs, and help create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
During transport times, the Bus Attendant ensures the safe supervision and wellbeing of students while travelling to and from school, maintaining a calm, organised, and supportive atmosphere.
This role supports the school's commitment to student safety, inclusion, and high-quality learning experiences, aligned with KHDA regulations and safeguarding expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and supporting classroom activities.
- Provide individual or small-group support to students who need additional help with learning.
- Support Students of Determination, ELL learners, and students with diverse learning needs.
- Help prepare and organise learning materials and classroom resources.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits.
- Supervise students during class activities, break times, and school events when required.
Student Wellbeing and Behaviour
- Promote positive behaviour, respect, and inclusion in line with school policies.
- Support students social and emotional wellbeing through encouragement and guidance.
- Assist teachers in maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Report any concerns regarding student welfare or safeguarding to the appropriate staff member.
Bus Supervision and Student Safety
- Ensure students board and exit the school bus safely.
- Supervise students during transport, ensuring appropriate behaviour and safety at all times.
- Maintain accurate bus attendance records.
- Assist younger students with seat belts and safe seating arrangements.
- Communicate respectfully with drivers, school staff, and parents where necessary.
- Report any incidents or concerns during transport to the school administration.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in all interactions.
- Follow school policies relating to safeguarding, student welfare, and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and the operations team.
- Attend relevant training sessions and school meetings where required.
- Support school events and activities when requested.
Essential
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.
- Patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with students.
- Understanding of child safety and wellbeing responsibilities.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, LSA, or Bus Attendant.
- Experience supporting Students of Determination or ELL learners.
- Experience working in schools within the UAE.
