Full-time Faculty

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has been dedicated to offering internationally benchmarked undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has become one of the region's leading centers of academic excellence. The College of Arts, Education & Social Sciences (CAESS) provides the following undergraduate and post graduate programs: BA in Mass Communication (Arabic and English), BA in International Relations, BA in Psychology, MA in Digital Communication and Technology, Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Teaching (English), MSc in Special Education, MEd in Educational Leadership. CAESS also provides courses in areas of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Education

The College of Arts, Education & Social Sciences (CAESS) at Abu Dhabi University seeks a candidate for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in Video GameDesign. The candidate should hold a terminal degree in Video Game Design or a closely related area, and possess confirmed technical and industry experience. The position begins in Fall 2025. The successful candidate should be able to teach undergraduate courses such as:

  • Level Design - Principles of Game Design
  • Prototyping Techniques - Board Game Design
  • Escape Game Design - Game Mechanics
  • Gamers Profiles and Behaviors - Platformer Game Design
  • Introduction to Unity - Introduction to Unreal
  • Mobile Game Project - Game History and culture

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures and workshops.
  • Consult and supervise student projects and work.
  • Mark and assess student work, assignments, projects, tests and examinations.
  • Prepare, review and moderate examination questions and marking answer scripts.
  • Develop subject teaching materials for the subjects the academic teaches.
  • Participate in professional activities in the University/ community.
  • Be a member of various committees.
  • Carry out leadership roles in educational activities in their academic Department/ Centre.

Requirements

  • A PhD or a Master's in Video Game Design or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in the game design industry.
  • Strong research and/or creative record.
  • Proficiency in game design software and engines ranging from Adobe Suite to Unity and Unreal as well as other relevant software.
  • Effective presentation skills, both theoretical and practical.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with the new gaming trends as well as with industry applications of gaming.
