About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role will be critical in providing legal advice, guidance, and support to our organization on various real estate matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and legal professionals to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks in our real estate operations.
Responsibilities
- Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice and guidance on real estate matters, including property acquisitions, development, financing, and property management.
- Contract Negotiation and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate various real estate contracts, such as purchase agreements, lease agreements, construction contracts, and vendor contracts, ensuring legal compliance and protecting the company's interests.
- Due Diligence: Conduct legal due diligence on real estate transactions, including title searches, zoning, land use analysis, environmental assessments, and property surveys, to identify potential legal issues or risks.
- Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated on relevant real estate laws, regulations, and industry practices, ensuring compliance with legal requirements in all real estate transactions and activities.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with real estate projects and transactions, and develop strategies to mitigate and manage such risks effectively.
- Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving real estate disputes, including tenant disputes, property damage claims, and other legal matters, through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation, as necessary.
- Legal Documentation: Prepare and maintain legal documentation related to real estate transactions, such as deeds, mortgages, easements, and lease agreements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and finance teams, to provide legal support and ensure alignment with business objectives. Liaise with external legal counsel, government agencies, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Policy and Process Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and review of fundamental real estate-related policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and streamline operational processes.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on real estate issues, industry trends, and emerging legal developments and recommend potential impact and courses of action to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications, Experiences, Core Competencies:
- LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution. A Master's in Law (LLM) or other relevant qualifications would be an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in real estate law, ideally within the UAE, with a focus on real estate development, construction law, and contract law.
- Strong understanding of the UAE's legal framework, particularly in real estate, property law and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
