To provide comprehensive legal counsel and support for the development of green hydrogen projects within the Company. The Executive Director will play a key role in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and facilitating the successful execution of green hydrogen initiatives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Legal Advisory and Support
- Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of green hydrogen projects, including project development, regulatory compliance, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents related to green hydrogen projects, such as offtake agreements, joint venture agreements, transportation and storage agreements and EPC contracts
- Conduct legal due diligence and risk assessments for green hydrogen projects
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to renewable energy, environmental law, land use, and water rights
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments relevant to green hydrogen in Saudi Arabia and other relevant jurisdictions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and permits for green hydrogen projects
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies on green hydrogen-related matters as needed to support green hydrogen projects
Stakeholder Management
- Ensure effective liaison with internal stakeholders, including the Green Hydrogen Business Development, Legal Assets, Corporate Legal, Techno-Commercial, Project Finance, Procurement teams and the project companies, as required, with respect to green hydrogen-related matters/issues, legal opinions on relevant projects, to ensure the information, documents, etc. are provided in a timely manner
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including legal counsel, consultants, and government officials as needed to support green hydrogen projects
- Build and maintain relationship with the legal community, including the Company's relationship law firms, external lawyers, etc. as needed to support green hydrogen projects
Selection of Legal Partners
- Manage the selection of external counsel and make final recommendation on the selection of external counsel for green hydrogen-related matters
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to contribute to organizational and departmental change initiatives, programmers and projects considering best practices and standards in the business environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in law
- 10 years of post-qualification specialization or experience in energy and infrastructure projects, with a focus on renewable energy, green hydrogen or oil and gas
- Extensive depth and breadth of legal knowledge and exposure to relevant sector, and experience in handling and dealing with counterparties and management
- Extensive knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks related to green hydrogen, renewable energy, and environmental law
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple matters and manage priorities effectively
- Ethical conduct and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality
- Ability to identify prospective legal risks and mitigate them
- Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations
- Ability to manage transactions/issues across diverse jurisdictions requiring extensive experience in managing and coordinating internal and external legal expertise
- Strong organizational skills, analytical skills and ability to work under pressure
