Job Description

Overview:

The Legal Expert acts as a senior trusted advisor and subject matter expert on complex, high-value technology and telecommunications matters. The role provides strategic, commercially driven legal counsel across the full lifecycle of digital and connectivity initiatives, supporting business growth, risk management, and innovation.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Legal Expert leads sophisticated transactions, shapes legal structures for emerging technologies, and plays a key role in governance, regulatory positioning, and stakeholder decision-making across Aramco Digital and its affiliates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive, business-oriented legal advice on complex technology, digital infrastructure, and telecommunications matters
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and business units, supporting decision-making on high-impact initiatives
  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical, commercially viable solutions
  • Anticipate legal risks and develop mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Lead the structuring, drafting, review, and negotiation of complex, high-value, and often cross-border agreements, including: SaaS and cloud agreements (both vendor and customer side, including hyperscale arrangements), Digital platform agreements and ecosystem partnerships, Telecommunications and connectivity agreements (including fiber, 5G, satellite, and wholesale arrangements), Strategic alliances, joint ventures, and consortium agreements, and Technology licensing, IP co-development, and commercialization structures
  • Managed services, outsourcing, and large-scale transformation agreements
  • Act as the lead legal negotiator on critical deals, balancing risk, speed, and commercial outcomes
  • Structure innovative legal models for emerging technologies (AI, IoT, edge computing, data platforms)
  • Provide expert legal support on:
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) (model governance, liability allocation, ethical frameworks)
  • Industrial IoT and smart infrastructure
  • Cloud computing and data localization requirements
  • Cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection
  • Telecommunications regulation and licensing frameworks
  • Identify and assess data privacy, cross-border data transfer, export control, and digital sovereignty risks
  • Interpret evolving regulatory landscapes and advise on compliance strategies in KSA and international jurisdictions
  • Design, review, and enhance internal legal policies, templates, and governance frameworks
  • Provide legal support on corporate governance matters, including:
  • Board and committee materials
  • Shareholder-related matters
  • Governance structures for subsidiaries and joint ventures
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory, compliance, and internal control frameworks
  • Support enterprise risk management initiatives from a legal perspective
  • Lead the assessment and resolution of complex claims and disputes arising from commercial and technology agreements
  • Support dispute strategy, settlement negotiations, and coordination with external counsel where required
  • Provide risk-based recommendations to minimize financial and reputational exposure

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB or equivalent). Postgraduate qualification (LLM or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Currently licensed, admitted to practice, and in good standing in a common law jurisdiction (e.g., United Kingdom or United States).

Experience:

  • 8- 12 years of experience in a leading TMT-focused law firm and/or a large technology or telecommunications organization.
  • Extensive experience advising complex, high-value technology and telecom transactions.
  • Strong track record in leading negotiations and structuring strategic commercial agreements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, industrial IoT, and connectivity solutions.
  • Proven experience in corporate governance and board advisory matters.
  • Experience working in multi-jurisdictional and cross-border environments is highly preferred.
