Legal Manager- Regulatory
Job Description
Role Objectives:
The Regulatory Manager leads Breadfast's regulatory strategy across its grocery, delivery, and financial-services lines. The role owns the relationship with regulators, secures and maintains the licences the business depends on, and translates a fast-moving regulatory landscape into clear, practical guidance that let the business scale safely.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Own Breadfast's regulatory licensing roadmap – obtaining, renewing, and maintaining all licences and permits across food, retail, logistics, e-commerce, and fintech/payments activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with regulators and government authorities (e.g., CBE, FRA, consumer protection, food safety, and municipal bodies) and manage filings, responses, and inspections.
- Monitor and interpret new and proposed laws and regulations, assess their impact on the business, and lead the company's response and implementation plans.
- Advise product, payments, and operations teams on regulatory requirements for new features, markets and business lines before launch.
- Build and maintain the regulatory compliance framework, including policies, registers, and internal controls, and report on regulatory risk to leadership.
- Manage and mentor regulatory counsel and coordinate external regulatory advisors.
Required Education, Knowledge, And Skills:
- Bachelor of Law.
- LL.M. or postgraduate qualification in regulatory, financial, or commercial law preferred.
- 8-9 years of regulatory or related legal experience, ideally combining law-firm and in-house
- experience in fintech, payments, e-commerce, or a regulated consumer business.
- Strong working knowledge of Egyptian regulatory frameworks and the relevant authorities; familiarity with licensing processes is essential.
- Proven track record engaging directly with regulators and managing licensing and approvals end to end.
