Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, servicing, maintenance, and testing of:
- Lifeboats and rescue boats
- Davits, winches, brakes, and release gear
- Free-fall and conventional lifeboat systems
- Conduct load testing and operational testing of lifeboat and davit systems
- Maintain and service on-load and off-load release mechanisms
- Carry out annual, 5-yearly, and special surveys as per SOLAS requirements
- Identify defects, carry out repairs, and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure all life-saving appliances comply with SOLAS, IMO, OEM, and Class rules
- Prepare and maintain service reports, certificates, and inspection records
- Coordinate with ship staff, shipyards, classification societies, and flag authorities
- Follow HSE procedures, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems
- Ensure safe work practices during lifeboat drills and maintenance activities
Qualifications & Certifications
- Diploma / Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Marine, or related discipline
- OEM authorization / certification (preferred)
- Lifeboat & Davit Technician Certification (as per SOLAS Reg. III/20.11)
- Familiarity with major lifeboat brands (e.g., Norsafe, Fassmer, Schat-Harding, Palfinger, Umoe Schat-Harding)
Experience
- Minimum 25 years experience as a Lifeboat Technician or similar role
- Experience working on offshore vessels, ships, rigs, or shipyards
- Strong understanding of marine safety regulations and inspection standards
