To provide operating insight and operational governance during the Operations Readiness phase of the Cap Lopez FLNG Project; to lead the development and assurance of competence for all critical LNG roles (Operations, Maintenance, Marine, QHSE) through pre-commissioning, commissioning/start-up, and steady-state operations; and to drive the execution of Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon's nationalization plan for the LNG organization.
The position supports and deputizes for the LNG Production Superintendent, assisting with the implementation and execution of production strategies and consistent operating practices across all shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Readiness (Dubai)
- Support the development of the Control of Work system design, training and implementation
- Support the development of a Competency Development and Assurance program for LNG Production Operations, Maintenance, Marine, QHSE and Technical Support Services
- Manage the competency development and assurance processes for the LNG Production Operators, Maintenance, Marine and QHSE
- Manage the assurance of all Technical Support Services for FLNG barge and FSU.
- Support the development of training materials for developing the LNG Operations and Maintenance teams
- Assist the maintenance team in developing list of critical spares and 2-year spares
- Assist with the validation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Review and comment on commissioning of LNG operating procedures and training material provided by EPC contractor
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and readiness of production Operators and Control Room staff
- Support the tactical execution of Operational Readiness and Assurance Plan and associated deliverables
- Lead the development of the Operator Training Simulator (OTS) and work with third-party supplier to ensure that OTS meets the competency development and assurance requirements for LNG Production DCS Technicians.
Operational Phase (Cap Lopez Rotational)
- Assist the LNG Production Superintendent with the implementation and execution of production strategies and operating practices across all shifts (reduce shift-to-shift variance).
- Ensure compliance with all safety and operational procedures
- Participation in turnaround planning and execution
- Drive continuous improvement and performance optimization across the plant production facility
- Ensure effective implementation and compliance with all elements under the Control of Work management system
- Active participation in leadership safety engagements to drive culture of safety within the LNG operations team
- Provide management of the production operator and maintenance competency development & assurance program
- Champion the Operator Training Simulator (OTS) aspects of competency development by ensuring the process model is kept up-to-date, training scenarios are relevant and developing and certifying OTS trainers internally.
Leadership & QHSE
- Drive competency development, mentoring, and performance management
- Ensure strict compliance with QHSE standards and foster strong safety culture.
Required Profile
Qualifications
- Diploma in Process Plant Operations (or equivalent)
- Certifications in LNG Process Operations
- Recognized certifications in LNG process operations, competency development and assesment systems.
Experience
- 10+ years in LNG facility in both field operations as well as DCS operations
- 5+ year in a supervisory or superintendent role
- Demonstrated experience in commissioning/start-up of LNG or hydrocarbon facilities.
Core Competencies
- Strong knowledge of LNG processes (AGRU, refrigeration, fractionation, BOG)
- Ability to lead during dynamic and emergency plant conditions
- Strong leadership, communication, and multicultural awareness
- English (CEFR B2 minimum); French advantageous.
Location
- Dubai-based during Operations Readiness Phase phase (with travel to Gabon)
- 5 weeks on / 5 weeks off rotation during Commissioning and Operational Phase.
