Role Summary
As one of the UAEs most renowned international luxury Home Furnishing companies, we are seeking a Logistics Controller to oversee the end‑to‑end movement of goods from overseas suppliers (primarily Hong Kong office) and local manufacturers to the UAE warehouse and final delivery points. This role ensures cost‑effective freight management, accurate inbound planning, and efficient scheduling of company fleet vehicles for UAE deliveries. This position works closely with the HK buying team, freight forwarding partners, external warehouse partner and the Fleet Controller.
Key Responsibilities
Import & Inbound Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with Hong Kong office on all purchase orders, shipment readiness, and dispatch schedules.
- Track all overseas shipments (sea, air, courier) and ensure timely arrival based on project, retail, and rental requirements.
- Maintain accurate shipment records in company system, including expected arrival dates, GRN planning, and cost allocation.
- Monitor supplier and office communication to ensure documentation accuracy (invoices, packing lists, HS codes, COO, etc.).
- Liaise with freight forwarders for booking, routing, consolidation, and customs clearance.
Freight Forwarding & Cost Control
- Review freight quotations regularly and benchmark costs across multiple forwarders.
- Analyse freight invoices to ensure accuracy and flag discrepancies.
- Maintain a cost tracker for sea freight, air freight, LCL/FCL, and local transport.
- Recommend cost‑saving opportunities (route optimisation, consolidation, alternative forwarders).
- Support annual freight contract negotiations with data‑driven insights.
Local Manufacturing Logistics
- Coordinate collection schedules from local manufacturers and ensure timely movement to the warehouse.
- Verify quantities, packaging, and documentation for locally produced items.
- Update company system with local inbound data and ensure correct item coding and cost allocation.
Warehouse & Inventory Coordination
- Work closely with the inventory to plan receiving schedules based on shipment arrivals.
- Ensure accurate GRN posting and stock availability updates in company system.
- Support inventory accuracy by ensuring timely and correct logistics documentation.
Fleet Scheduling
- Prepare daily and weekly delivery schedules for company fleet vehicles.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Controller regarding driver assignments and vehicle availability.
- Prioritise deliveries based on project timelines, retail commitments, and rental contracts.
- Track delivery completion and resolve any logistics issues or delays.
Systems & Reporting
- Maintain all logistics data within company system, including shipment status, freight costs, GRNs, and delivery schedules.
- Generate weekly inbound/outbound reports for management.
- Support system improvements and process optimisation.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of international freight processes (sea, air, LCL/FCL, customs).
- Experience working with freight forwarders and reviewing freight cost structures.
- Proficiency in Navision v5 or similar ERP systems.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills across multiple departments and suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills for cost review and logistics optimisation.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and delivery schedules simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in logistics coordination, preferably in retail, furnishing, or project‑based industries.
- Experience working with freight forwarders and import processes.
- ERP experience required; Navision experience is an advantage.
- UAE experience preferred.
