Job Purpose
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery used in the production of liquid coatings. The role includes prebatching, weighing, mixing, machine operation, tinting, panel application, and quality checks to ensure products are manufactured in compliance with AkzoNobel's HSE, Quality, Service, and Cost standards while meeting production targets.

Job Purpose
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery used in the production of liquid coatings. The role includes prebatching, weighing, mixing, machine operation, tinting, panel application, and quality checks to ensure products are manufactured in compliance with AkzoNobel's HSE, Quality, Service, and Cost standards while meeting production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation:
- Set up, operate, and adjust blending machine, according to production batch card specifications and schedules.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency, making adjustments as recommended by the QC Chemist.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect raw materials and finished products for conformance to quality standards.
- Perform regular quality checks including panel application during the production process.
- Maintenance:
- Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues, report major problems to maintenance personnel & Production Supervisor.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all Akzo Nobel safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Follow Akzo Nobel Life Saving Rules & Golden Principle
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated.
- Maintain Housekeeping standards & participate in 5S Audits.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Complete necessary paperwork for production batches and machine maintenance logs.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance and quality control departments.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving efficiency and product quality.
- 2–3 years of experience in liquid paint manufacturing or a similar production environment
- Secondary school education or above completed
- Basic spoken and written English proficiency
- Ability to read and follow batch cards, labels, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Basic numeracy skills
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Physically fit for production environment tasks
- Basic knowledge of production equipment (e.g., HSDs, blenders, mixers, material handling equipment)
- Basic understanding of HSE requirements in a manufacturing environment
- Basic awareness of raw materials, production processes, and quality control principles
