Job Purpose:
The PTS Machining Technician is responsible for the manufacture and fabrication of one off / low volume parts within the Prototype Shop. The role will also entail supporting the prototype team in the assembly of engineering development vehicles.
1. Key Responsibilities
- Use traditional machinery and processes to manufacture/fabricate parts to support the workshop activities, including:
- Centre Lathe
- Turret Milling Machine & Horizontal Milling Machine
- Surface/Cylindrical Grinder
- Horizontal and Vertical Bandsaw
- Cut off Saw.
- Hand Tools
- Basic hydraulics
- Basic factory electrical
- Basic factory maintenance
- Support other departments within the PTS in the manufacture and assembly of prototype vehicles.
2. Functional Requirements
- Experience working in a precision Toolroom to tight tolerances using best practices.
- Experience using general purpose Toolroom machinery as listed above.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and data.
- Experience with hand tools and bench work.
- Experience with electrical work
- Experience with basic factory maintenance
3. Cross functional and external responsibilities
Cross functional support within the PTS Center to ensure the department requirements are anticipated and met.
Cross functional support internally to interpret, manage and support program requirements.
Must be a team player.
Education:
- Technical Qualifications from a recognized school/ industry.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge and experience of traditional Toolroom equipment and techniques.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Basic factory maintenance
- Basic factory electrical
- Millwrights experience an advantage.
- Proficiency in English language both spoken and written.
Minimum Experience:
- 5+ years experience within a relevant environment.
