Role OverviewAs a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and overall health of either our in-store aquariums or those of paying customers from the P&M department. Your expertise in aquarium maintenance and strong attention to detail will play a vital role in creating a visually appealing and thriving aquatic environment for our customers and our aquatic inhabitants. This role also requires a high level of animal welfare, and time management skills to be effective. The position will either require rotating between all stores within our network or visiting multiple paying customer's homes/businesses based on a set schedule.Responsibilities
Ensure all TPS & external client aquariums are maintained to the highest standards through regular onsite visits.
Follow a thorough cleaning protocol: perform water changes, algae cleaning, debris removal, sump & filter cleaning, and more.
Verify all equipment (heaters, filters, lights) is in full working order, making informed recommendations for improvements or replacements.
Perform regular and accurate water quality tests, identifying readings outside ideal ranges and taking corrective actions.
Complete and provide a checklist for all tasks conducted at each service location.
Monitor and assess livestock health, report abnormalities or sickness to both the line supervisor and Quarantine Specialist.
Act as the company's designated driver, ensuring professional, timely, and safe transportation to customer sites.
Support sales of store products to new and existing customers where applicable.
Produce weekly sales reports and updates to the Aquatics Manager on the progress of the P&M division.
Must have requirements
At least 2 years experience in aquarium maintenance and fish care.
Full, clean manual driver's license.
High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is desirable.
Solid knowledge of aquarium systems, equipment, and their features.
Proficient understanding of aquarium water quality, ideal parameters, and corrective methods for poor water quality.
Capability to service or replace aquarium equipment and conduct proper inspections to ensure functionality.
Strict adherence to company cleaning protocols and attention to accurate record-keeping with checklists.
Ability to monitor, assess, and report livestock health conditions confidently and promptly.
Professional demeanor representing the company courteously while on the road and at client locations; punctuality and compliance with road safety regulations are essential.
