The Manager, ADSS Trader Engineering (Web UI - React) will be responsible for driving the development of our web trading platform. The role involves a balanced mix of hands-on development, team leadership, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will drive the technical direction of the platform, ensuring it meets the highest standards for performance, reliability, security, and user experience.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of software engineers, mentoring team member, and fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance team culture.
- Lead the design and architecture of complex software systems, considering scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with product owners and other stakeholders to define and execute the roadmap for our web trading platform.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to the team and contribute to the architecture and design decisions for the platform.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and frameworks for development, considering business requirements and industry trends.
- Promote collaboration across teams and other departments, including UX/UI design, product, QA, and DevOps.
- Oversee the development process to ensure high-quality code, perform code reviews, and ensure that best practices are adhered to.
- Manage the testing and deployment processes to minimize bugs and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Implementing strategies for managing the team's workload and efficient resource utilization whilst managing risks to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Implement robust security measures within software applications, safeguarding financial data and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software architecture, design decisions, and coding practice
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience building complex, real-time web applications with React and TypeScript, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role guiding frontend architecture decisions and mentoring engineers.
- Proven track record leading development of mission-critical trading or financial services UIs with experience in high-frequency data streaming, real-time price updates, and latency-sensitive user interactions.
- Deep experience with reactive programming patterns, particularly RxJS and state management solutions like React-RxJS, managing complex asynchronous data flows and WebSocket connections.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining shared component libraries and design systems using Material UI (MUI), styled components, and custom theming infrastructure for multi-application environments.
- Strong background in comprehensive testing strategies including unit testing (Vitest/Jest), integration testing (Cypress), E2E testing, and establishing quality gates within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Gradle).
- Experience collaborating with backend teams on full-stack trading platforms, including working with generated API contracts, Hydra/event-sourcing architectures, and coordinating frontend-backend integration.
- Proven leadership experience in managing software development teams.

Skills
- Expert proficiency in React 18/19, TypeScript 5.x, and modern JavaScript with deep understanding of hooks, concurrent features, performance optimization, and large-scale application architecture.
- Advanced RxJS and reactive programming skills, including creating observables, managing subscriptions, handling WebSocket streams, and building reactive state management patterns with React-RxJS.
- Strong expertise in frontend testing frameworks (Cypress, Vitest, Testing Library) with ability to define testing strategies spanning unit, integration, E2E, and smoke testing for complex financial applications.
- Proficiency with modern build tooling including Webpack, ESLint, Stylelint, Prettier, and TypeScript compiler configuration for large monorepo projects with multiple entry points.
- Experience with AWS services (Cognito for authentication, AWS SDK) and frontend observability tools (Sentry for error tracking, performance monitoring) in production environments.
- Strong understanding of internationalization (i18n), accessibility standards, and building responsive trading interfaces with complex data grids, charting libraries (ChartIQ), and virtualised lists (React Virtuoso).
