Job Description
Biomedical engineer applies engineering principles and techniques to solve problems in the field of healthcare and medicine. They combine their knowledge of biology, medicine, and engineering to design and develop medical devices, equipment, and systems that improve patient care, diagnosis, and treatment. These professionals work closely with healthcare professionals, scientists, and researchers to identify and address various challenges in the medical field. By integrating engineering principles with medical knowledge, biomedical engineers contribute to advancing healthcare and improving the quality of life for patients.
Design and develop specifications related needed medical equipment
- Create list of required medical equipment as per the centre scope of service with it specifications
- Participate in selecting the evidence based and regulatory approved medical equipment
- Approve new equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes and making modifications
- Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating and testing performance
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions.
- Provide training for all new HCW, supported by user manual of each equipment
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with healthcare professional to understand their needs and improve product functionality.
- Facilitate regular meetings and updates with cross functional teams to ensure alignment and address challenges
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all equipment comply with SFDA and ISO and maintain required documents as proof.
- Prepares biomedical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Technical support
- Offer expertise to repair of equipment in case of reported failure
- Report to the leadership and quality any equipment misuse for preventive measures
Professional Development
- Maintains the highest levels of professional competence through ongoing personal professional development using multiple modalities such as attendance at conferences and symposium, workshops and in-services, reading role related journals and textbooks and networking with others.
- Pursue ongoing education and training to stay abreast of advancements in medical equipment practice and healthcare technology.
- Seek opportunities for professional growth and skill development through workshops, seminars, and certifications.
- Maintain current licensure and certifications required for the position.
- Acts as a preceptor for new employees
Quality Improvement and Compliance
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Assist in the implementation of evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of departmental indicators, especially the required interventions and prevention .
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job

- Proven experience in medical device selection and maintenance.
- Knowledge in regulatory standards and quality assurance process

- Service mindset
- Current and valid Engineering license
- Minimum 5 Years, preferably in commissioning and operating hospitals
